RED

RedRed the Dog

Sometimes Red (a bull mastiff cross) will want to come with me.  Although looking large and very scary he has been known to hide behind me for protection.

The first Red Story

My son was outside fiddling about with his car.  Red was sleeping on the pavement nearby; an activity he excels at.  A car drove past, turned and came back and stopped.  The driver jumped out saying, ‘Can I help, I’m so sorry.’  My son looked at him – he didn’t look familiar.  Red slowly lifted his head.  The stranger said, ‘He’s not dead!  I was stopping to help you lift him into the car.  Dead dogs weigh a lot.  I know my dog died recently.’   Red is very relaxed when he sleeps.

  1. I thouroughly enjoyed reading this story, thanks : ) Mursik, one of my cats – dead now but had a good 13-year-long rotten spoiled life – had this habit of climbing up tall furniture and then sleeping on top with his head hanging down from the edge… I don’t know how on earth he managed to sleep like that but I heard many a cry from unsuspecting horrified visitors “Oh no, I think your cat is dead!” And then I would smile “Oh no, not again” and start sharpening a knife, with noisy deliberateness. Mursik never failed to miraculously come back to life the very next second and to race to the kitchen expecting a meaty treat.
